A Shiny Pokemon is an very rare Pokemon with different coloration than normal Pokemon. The odds of encountering a Shiny Pokemon are 1/8192, or 1/4096 in Gen 6. There are methods to increase the chances of finding one, such as the Masuda Method and Chaining. We will address all of this and more in our blog.

Masuda Method

Hello, it's Riley. Today I will tell you about the Masuda Method. It is called the Masuda Method because it was programmed in Gen. IV and V by Junichi Masuda. It raises the chances of getting a Shiny from 1/8192 to 1/1639 in Gen. IV and 1/1366 in Gen. V. You have to make two Pokemon breed together from two different languages to increase the chances.
